We offer training, support and services for families, paraprofessionals and professionals working with children, youth and adults with Autism/ASD and other complex brain-based conditions. 

Jan and her partners turned research into practice filling in “identified gaps” in Nova Scotia service delivery since 2016. 

Our Services 

Our services are based on need and can include, but are not limited to the following:

Families:

  • Listening to and learning from families about their child who needs support
  • System navigation for families waiting for a diagnosis
  • Evidence-based training and coaching for families in their homes 
  • Consultation and next steps for families navigating school teams and program plans
  • Support for school transitions and school meetings
  • Support for transitions and generalization of skills into the community

Paraprofessionals and professionals

  • Training modules that are research and evidence-based, person-centred and can be individualized 
  • Support and training for paraprofessionals such as 1:1 support workers or group home staff 
  • Working together with paraprofessionals or support workers in various settings to develop “skills to teach” as part of an individualized behaviour plan
  • Working together with professionals from many disciplines to ensure that all children, youth and adults with complex brain-based conditions have a safe and meaningful future in our communities.

Jan Keddy is a retired teacher and single mother of four children, who has taught most grade levels during her career. For the past 14 years, Jan worked as an autism specialist for the Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB) Autism team. As part of this work, she has transitioned over six hundred individuals with ASD into the school system. Find out more
